Although Fontes has only 1000 inhabitants, it has all the essentials. A wonderful bakery, butchery, pharmacy, two hair dressers, bar, winery (huge), a doctor, post office (morning only) and a lovely old church.

Fontes is buried in the famous Midi wine growing area, with vineyards surrounding the entire village. In fact wine growing is the main occupation. It is situated on the sun drenched flanks of the Cevenne Hills.

It is a pretty and very friendly village with a “bonjour” in the street being rewarded by a big smile.
