Is there a doctor in the village?
Yes, there is a doctor within the village.
He is located on the right in the road signed 'Dechetterie'.
Do all the shops close down at midday?
Yes, except for the larger supermarkets. Some supermarkets are open on Sunday mornings.
The village Boulangerie is closed on Mondays but bread may be
available at the butchery shop.
Is the village self-sufficient?
There is a butcher, boulangerie (bakery), pharmacy, doctors,
post office, a large wine cave (execellent well priced local wines
available), bar, newsagent and tobacconist,
two hairdressers, a tennis court and a public swimming pool at the
camping ground.
There is normally a vegetable market on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Other traders arrive at various times and you will often see them
when going to the Boulangerie in the morning.
Are houses self sufficient?
Yes, the houses feature good quality beds and plenty of linen. Radio/CD, ipod
player, WIFI, TV, washing machine and separate drier, cooker, thermowave oven, dishwasher, microwave and
the usual kitchen appliances, hairdryer, heaters and
fireplaces.
How can I save money on car hireage?
If you are coming from outside the EU enquire with your
Travel Agent regarding lease cars. Renault, Peugeot and Citroen
all participate and Montpellier Airport is a pick-up depot for
all of these brands.
Is the village linked by a public transport system?
Yes there is a bus service to Montpellier. The timetable
is in the shelter in the main street.
Where is the nearest mainline rail system?
At Beziers (25 minutes) or Montpellier (1 hour).
How do I find Fontes from Montpellier airport?
Proceed out of the Airport and at the first roundabout
take the exit for the A9. Follow the road which is a dual carriageway
and at the next roundabout take the exit for the A9 Barcelona.
Take care here for the correct turnoff, do not exit at the A9
Lyon heading in the opposite direction.
Proceed on the A9 for about 30 minutes until you see exit No.34 for Pezenas. Come off here and after the toll booth you will come to a roundabout. Keep to the left and follow the directions for Pezenas the road for which is on the hard left.
Follow this road until it goes onto a dual carriageway (don't take the exit for Pezenas centre just prior to this).
Keep in the right hand lane until you see the second exit for Lezignan-la-Cebe exit No 59. You will go through two roundabouts taking the exit for Lezignan-la-Cebe each time. Proceed through this town and once through you will see road markings at a round about for a left hand turn to Fontes. Keep on this road and you will come directly to Fontes.
Our houses are 10 and 15 Rue de L'Hopital. Proceed past the road on the
left directing to the Dechetterie and immediately look ahead to
the right. There is a large white house and beside it a street
and you will see an orange coloured house which is No 15.
Number 10 is through the archway opposite number 15.
Parking is best on the street behind leading to the Cave.
How far away are the beaches?
Our favourite is Vias Plage which is 20 minutes away by car. However
the Mediterranean Coast is peppered with great little beaches.
In particular the stretch of beach between Sete and Agde. There
are also many handy rivers and lakes to picnic and swim.
Can I use an online route planner to plan my trip, book
ferries and find out about driving abroad?
For detailed route planning, find out about driving permits or
book ferries go to www.greenflag.co.uk.
Fuel/gasoline
The nearest fuel can be purchased from Clermont L'Herault or from
Pezenas.
Make sure you are gassed up before Sunday as Service Stations
open on this day are a rarity. The cheapest place for fuel is
normally the pumps at Supermarkets.
